Michigan Vacation

Well, it seems I have neglected my blog for awhile. Wink, myself, Cathy, and Tim, have been on vacation to Michigan to visit Mark, Vanessa, Courtney, Leslea, and last but not least, Maddi. We had a great time. We made a lot of good memories. Vanessa is a wonderful hostess and a great cook. We ate at the house most of the time. She is a skinny cook but you can trust me, she CAN cook. We laughed, joked and had fun just being together. My grandaughters are amazing of course and have grown and matured a lot in the year since we had seen them. Lake Michigan looks like no lake to me, more like the ocean. On one visit to the Lake there were 6-8 foot breakers rolling in! Beautiful though! It was Coast Guard Week in Grand Haven, also known as Coast Guard City, USA. There was a lot to do. We did a lot of walking! We went to a fair and a street carnival where we enjoyed eating elephant ears and corndogs. We saw all kinds of animal. The baby goats were almost kidnapped by the Rose girls, ,including Vanessa. You never saw such animal lovers as this group! The men especially enjoyed the tours of the Coast Guard Icebreaker, Mackinaw and the Cutter Bristol Bay. The flowers in Michigan are gorgeous! We made an all day trip to Mackanac Island in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan and although it was raining a little and a little chilly, we enjoyed the scenery of the 5 mile long bridge and the beautiful island. Again the flowers were impressive! We did some shopping the last day we were there. Nessa could shop all week and not hit all the stores in this area, 10 minutes away, either direction from the house! Tim loves to shop better than most women! He loved it! Wink is another story when it comes to shopping! (: He did have a wonderful time though. Well, we are home and I have to go to work this afternoon so I will try to get busy and finish up here. Hope you enjoy the pictures! BYE!

Well, I'm back. Last week was so busy with work, cakes, and Bible School! Again, I have been very busy with the fudge cakes and fudge this week. I have baked 9 cakes and 7 batches of fudge since last Sunday. Baked three cakes last night! All sold today! It was a profitable week. On Thursday I had the day off so we went with our neighbors Judy and Steve to the Cape. (Baked my cake and fudge before I went.) They needed to learn the way so they can go by themselves. It was a glorious day. The ponies were out and there were more of them than ususl. It was pretty neat to see them swim. There was a week old colt and another a little older. (See Photos) Sharing our beautiful piece of earth is a pleasure. this coming week will be a busy one too. I have to work Mon, Tues, and Wed. On Thursday I asked off to get ready for our trip to Michigan. I can' t wait!! In between I'll have to bake cakes. I already have an order for a fudgecake on Thursday.
Wink is doing better as far as his heart surgery is concerned. He cut some grass with a push mower today. Maybe not a lot but some. That is a good start. He is having problems still with his arms. Maybe someday we'll find out what is wrong with them! Well have a good week everyone. Go to Sunday School tomorrow and remember it is a day of rest. That is what I intend to do. After the rest home service that is.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Like most people I know I am busier than I need to be. I took the time today after lunch to finally update this blog, but before I finished and saved it I had to leave to go to the nursing home service. Long story short, I deleted all my hard work by mistake because I navigated to another page!! So now I have to go to the VBS program and I don't have time to finish this. I will try to do it later! Until them....

Friends

Vanessa and Christy

Today was a nice cool day here on Harkers Island. The wind was from the east and there was no humidity! Andrew had fun playing at Aunt Cathy's with Gaib and Christian. In the afternoon they came here to play. They were great together. They played outside for awhile and then came in to play games on the computer and play hangman. Andrew found kittens yesterday in the skiff behind the house. Of course he wants one. There are three. He wants me to keep one of them for him. His mama has a no pets policy. I would keep one, but they are wild. The boys were worried that she has left them and won't come back to feed them. I told them she may move them but she would come back. I hope I'm right. I cooked shrimp for supper and they were delicious. After supper they were talking about staying overnight here with Andrew, but backed out. Later Cathy and I took them for ice cream. They had a good day! Oh to be young again!!

Well this is my first post, so I will say hello to all of those who happen to stop by. Today was a beautiful, but hot day, with a nice breeze to make it a little more tolerable. I worked at Capt. Henry's Gift Shop. I think Wink, who is recovering from open heart bypass surgery, missed me. He gets pretty bored. He has had a better day than yesterday, but is anxious to get back to normal. He wants to feel good and be able to drive. He fears he will never be well again. Of course he will be feeling much better in a few short weeks. Easy for me to say I guess, I don't have a zipper in my chest! Grandson, Andrew will be here a few days next week to keep him from being bored.

Anyway, as uaual I am feeling blessed and know I have a Heavenly Father who knows everything I need now or in the future so I will not worry. I gave all of my family, my husband and children, to HIM long ago. He doesn't ever sleep and He never makes mistakes. Have a wonderful Sunday. Remember to go to church!
